Art and railways have always been major influences in John Austin's life.
These two factors, combined with several years' experience of professional lighting
design, become very apparent in his paintings.
"Light is the most important ingredient in any picture", he says.
As a result of the drama, passion and outstanding technical detail which have become
recognized features of his very distinctive style, John is now an honorary Fellow of the Guild of Railway
Artists, and has won the Guild of Railway Artists Picture of the Year award 14 times in
the last 15 years, and this year has been voted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!
